Lila loves the movie Maltilda

Lila loves the movie entitled, Matilda.

She also loves quoting Ms Trunchbull from the movie.

She is pretty observant and quotes other movies as well, but I thought I would put this up since I know Collin will love it and he could not be here for Lila's birthday celebration today. I will let Sheena post more about Lila's 3rd birthday later.

How many good mom points do I get for this?

What does Lila enjoy more than painting on paper? Painting pumpkins. And what does Lila enjoy more than painting pumpkins? Painting my face. These pictures are from Halloween. We had face paint for costumes and Lila desperately wanted to paint my face so I gave in.

She was taking her time and really concentrating.

She loved every minute of it.

She told me when she was all done that I couldn't wash it off because I looked so pretty. She cried when I took it off. I'm pretty sure that letting my 2 year old paint my face gave me a few good mom points, hopefully I didn't lose them all this past week when I lost my mind a couple of times.

...And an update on the girls. Lila is doing great, she is pretty much all better. She has a little left over spoiled in her so she occasionally bursts into tears for no reason, demands ice cream for breakfast (don't worry, she doesn't get it), and wants to be held more than usual, but we are so glad to have her happy little self back. Launi is having a rough time, but still doing better than Lila did. Launi will pretty much only eat jello and wants to be held ALL day long, but she will at least sleep and drink so no worries there.

Happy Little Campers...just kidding

Sad news first... Little Launi got what Lila has. She was running a fever from Wednesday until this morning and yesterday morning the little sores started appearing. Our doctor told us that she would most likely get it too, so to start giving her the same medicine as Lila right away. Now we are hoping that Launi won't get it quite as bad.

Launi isn't really eating anything but she is still drinking. So far the girls have been really good at sleeping in the day time but they are both up all through the night, waking each other up crying. I feel like I have been playing musical beds going from laying on Lila's floor with her to sleeping in our rocking chair or on the couch with Launi.

Both girls want to be held non stop, this has probably been the toughest part, I wish I could hold them both at the same time.
We were a little stir crazy on Friday so we went for a drive. Launi had a really high fever at this point and Lila hadn't eaten in days so they were pretty much zoned out in the back.

You can't tell she is miserable, can you?

Lila's lips would probably be much better at this point, but she is a picker and can't leave them alone. When I went to check on her this morning her hair was crusted to her face and mouth with blood-kind of disgusting.

The good news is we convinced Lila to eat ice cream last night and it made such a big difference in her little personality. She had oatmeal for breakfast and has been drinking a lot too. She still breaks out in sobs every so often but she is definitely getting better. Now we just have to wait out Launi.

100th Post

This is our 100th post! It feels like is should be way more than that, but then again, I am not so good at regularly blogging. Well, I am sad to say that this is not a fun post...

Lila has been pretty sick and it has been horrible. She has already had the flu twice and a cold that lasted forever this last month so I was not a happy camper when she had a fever of 103.3 on Sunday night. It was weird because she kept saying her teeth and eyes hurt. We gave her Motrin and let her sleep. She woke up a couple times in the night saying the same thing and still had a really high fever. On Monday she just wanted to sleep all day and we couldn't really kick the fever.

So we jumped in the car and headed to the Doctor. They said it looked like the flu and was most likely H1N1. Poor little thing was miserable. She wanted a wet rag on her head and eyes and one over her mouth too all day long.
Then came Tuesday morning, she woke up happy as can be. She was hungry and thirsty and her fever was totally gone. This lasted about 2-3 hours. Then she started screaming in pain about her mouth. I looked closer and discovered sores all over her tongue, the inside of her lips, and cheeks. It was horrible.
Then they showed up all over her lips, the roof of her mouth, and under her tongue too.
So, we jumped in the car again and headed back to the doctor. This time they told us she had herpes simplex, most likely caused from a combination of exposure to a cold sore, which I had one, and another virus such as the flu. Lila is in totally agony. She hasn't eaten or drank anything since Sunday afternoon except for an eggo waffle on Tuesday morning.

She cries for seriously long periods of time because something has touched her lips or because she is hungry but it hurts too bad to eat. She is miserable and on top of it all, is really contagious and since we don't want Launi to get sick, she has to stay in her room pretty much constantly.

We tried to get her to eat by offering her everything she loves and never gets to have...ice cream, cookie dough, popsicles, jello, pudding and everything else you can imagine. She wouldn't touch any of it. I feel so bad for the poor little thing.

Another sad side note is that since Lila wants me with her at all times and the only thing that makes her stop crying is if you hold her standing up, poor Launi has been a little neglected. She now starts crying when I walk down the hall to Lila's room, it breaks my heart.

The doctor told us this could last 10 days and that basically she will just be miserable until all of the sores go away. We got medicine to help them go away faster, so we'll see what happens.

Right before Lila fell asleep tonight she let us pour water in her mouth with a straw because it didn't have to touch her lips. Hopefully she will let us keep doing it since it is the only food/water she is getting. It has been tough because she is beyond cranky and irritable from being hungry and in pain but you can't leave her alone or she will have a ginormous melt down. I cannot begin to describe how excited I am to get my sweet, silly, lovable, and healthy little Lila back, for all of our sakes.

...And because I don't like to leave you with a bad taste in your mouth, here is a picture of Lila after she discovered caramel apples. This picture was taken last week before her attack of the sores. She thoroughly enjoyed every bite.

Jake's Birthday and Halloween Party and such...

Jake turned 32 in October and we celebrated a couple of times. On his actual Birthday we went to dinner and came home and had ice cream cake. Lila is obsessed with Birthdays and enjoyed every second of the day.
Lila painted a beautiful pumpkin, while she was painting she told me it was for Grandpa and Grandma Mann, then about 15 minutes later it was for Grandma Coco, it was later for Jeff and Kara, then her daddy, and when she was all done she told me to take it to New Zealand for Collin, Maxine and Isaac. I'm sure I'm forgetting some people too. She painted for almost 3 hours and was beyond proud of her creation.

I had to buy a wig for my costume and we all had a little fun with it.

Launi was hilarious when she was walking around in it, it was making us laugh so hard.

Lila looked SO different.

Uh....
This year we decided to throw a little Halloween Birthday party for Jake with some neighborhood friends. Everyone came dressed up and we had such a good time. Jake and I were Cleopatra and Marc Antony. I am proud to say that I made his cape, leg straps and tunic. Just don't look closely cause they are a bit ghetto.
Whit and Dustin were our first prize winners. They were crazy to look at it, it was too wierd.

I didn't get pictures of everyone, sorry I'm lame. A few couples came a little late so I missed them.
Jake's BEAUTIFUL cake from The Chocolate, AKA Ange. It tasted as good as it looks, she always does the most amazing job.

We even got to display some of Jake's artwork. He did all of these pictures of skulls and freaky things when he was in AP art in high school and for years I have thought how junky it was that he drew ugly things I would never want to display...well, they finally had their debut.

And here is my cute thing who came upstairs to join us for some cake and pomegranate seeds. All in all, we had a wonderful Halloween and I think Jake really enjoyed his Birthday.

Cutest Peacocks EVER!!!

Warning: I seriously love these girls in their costumes so there are quite a few pictures. That being said, how can you not love these girls in their costumes? I saw Launi's costume in the mall and decided to make one for Lila to match and head bands for both of them. Lila was beyond excited to be a peacock. She told everyone everywhere we went that she was going to be a peacock.

Launi was a little fascinated with her ruffles, but both of them were champs and didn't mess with their feathers at all.

I made Lila's feathers Velcro to her shirt so we could take them off so she could still sit in her car seat and such. I love this picture though, this is a little boy from nursery that she really likes.

One with her feathers on...
Launi's cute little backside.
..And cute little front side.
Both Lila and Launi loved trick or treating. Launi was way more aggressive about it and would bang on doors and reach her hand in candy bowls trying to get as much as she could...hilarious because she had no idea what it was and hadn't ever had candy.
Lila's feathers faced forward so you could see them from the front.

I don't know what she is doing here, but she is cute! We had a wonderful Halloween and loved taking the girls around.
