This is our 100th post! It feels like is should be way more than that, but then again, I am not so good at regularly blogging. Well, I am sad to say that this is not a fun post...
Lila has been pretty sick and it has been horrible. She has already had the flu twice and a cold that lasted forever this last month so I was not a happy camper when she had a fever of 103.3 on Sunday night. It was weird because she kept saying her teeth and eyes hurt. We gave her Motrin and let her sleep. She woke up a couple times in the night saying the same thing and still had a really high fever. On Monday she just wanted to sleep all day and we couldn't really kick the fever.

So we jumped in the car and headed to the Doctor. They said it looked like the flu and was most likely H1N1. Poor little thing was miserable. She wanted a wet rag on her head and eyes and one over her mouth too all day long.

Then came Tuesday morning, she woke up happy as can be. She was hungry and thirsty and her fever was totally gone. This lasted about 2-3 hours. Then she started screaming in pain about her mouth. I looked closer and discovered sores all over her tongue, the inside of her lips, and cheeks. It was horrible.

Then they showed up all over her lips, the roof of her mouth, and under her tongue too.

So, we jumped in the car again and headed back to the doctor. This time they told us she had herpes simplex, most likely caused from a combination of exposure to a cold sore, which I had one, and another virus such as the flu. Lila is in totally agony. She hasn't eaten or drank anything since Sunday afternoon except for an eggo waffle on Tuesday morning.

She cries for seriously long periods of time because something has touched her lips or because she is hungry but it hurts too bad to eat. She is miserable and on top of it all, is really contagious and since we don't want Launi to get sick, she has to stay in her room pretty much constantly.

We tried to get her to eat by offering her everything she loves and never gets to have...ice cream, cookie dough, popsicles, jello, pudding and everything else you can imagine. She wouldn't touch any of it. I feel so bad for the poor little thing.

Another sad side note is that since Lila wants me with her at all times and the only thing that makes her stop crying is if you hold her standing up, poor Launi has been a little neglected. She now starts crying when I walk down the hall to Lila's room, it breaks my heart.
The doctor told us this could last 10 days and that basically she will just be miserable until all of the sores go away. We got medicine to help them go away faster, so we'll see what happens.
Right before Lila fell asleep tonight she let us pour water in her mouth with a straw because it didn't have to touch her lips. Hopefully she will let us keep doing it since it is the only food/water she is getting. It has been tough because she is beyond cranky and irritable from being hungry and in pain but you can't leave her alone or she will have a ginormous melt down. I cannot begin to describe how excited I am to get my sweet, silly, lovable, and healthy little Lila back, for all of our sakes.
...And because I don't like to leave you with a bad taste in your mouth, here is a picture of Lila after she discovered caramel apples. This picture was taken last week before her attack of the sores. She thoroughly enjoyed every bite.
